When the first chill of autumn settles over Atlanta, many homeowners look forward to lighting their fireplace. But before striking that match, it is wise to check the chimney cap. A missing or damaged cap can let in rain, leaves, and unwelcome wildlife, turning a cozy evening into a costly repair. Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney, a locally owned service provider serving Atlanta and nearby communities since 2019, reminds residents that a thorough inspection and proper cap installation are essential for a safe and efficient fireplace season.
Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney offers chimney cap inspection, replacement, and custom installation as part of its broader chimney services. What sets this company apart is its careful attention to chimney swifts, protected migratory birds that often roost in Atlanta chimneys during fall. Before installing any cap, technicians check the flue for birds or active nests, ensuring that no animals are trapped inside. This bird-conscious approach not only complies with federal law but also reflects a genuine commitment to responsible home maintenance.
What Is Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney’s Chimney Cap Service?
Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney provides comprehensive chimney cap services for homeowners across the Atlanta metro area. A chimney cap is a metal hood with a mesh screen that covers the top of the flue, allowing smoke and combustion gases to escape while keeping out rain, debris, and animals. The company installs standard replacement caps and custom caps for chimneys that require a different size or shape, ensuring a proper fit and reliable protection.
The service begins with a thorough inspection of the chimney top, the existing cap, and the accessible parts of the flue. Technicians look for damage, blockages, and animal activity before any work begins. If the inspection reveals creosote buildup, a damaged flue, or a blockage, the homeowner is advised to address those issues before using the fireplace. This upfront assessment helps prevent future problems and ensures that the new cap performs as intended.
What Stands Out About This Service
Bird-Safe Installation Process
Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney checks the flue for chimney swifts before installing any cap. These federally protected birds often gather in chimneys during fall migration, and trapping them inside a new cap is both illegal and inhumane. If swifts or an active nest are found, the installation is delayed until the birds have left, a practice that sets this company apart from less thorough providers.
Custom Caps for Non-Standard Flues
Not all chimneys are the same size or shape. Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney offers custom-built caps for flues that require a different fit, ensuring that every home gets the protection it needs. A cap that fits poorly or has a torn screen offers little defense against the elements, so this attention to detail is a significant advantage.
Comprehensive Inspection Before Installation
Before fitting a cap, the technician inspects the chimney top, existing cap, and flue for damage, blockages, and animal activity. Any necessary cleaning or animal removal is performed first, ensuring that the new cap is installed on a sound foundation. This thorough approach helps homeowners avoid surprises after the job is done.
Upfront Pricing and Free Estimates
Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney provides free, no-obligation estimates and confirms pricing before any work begins. This transparency helps homeowners budget with confidence and avoids the frustration of unexpected charges. The company also offers a starting price of $189 for chimney sweeps, though cap installation costs vary based on the specific requirements.
Locally Owned with a Strong Reputation
Serving Atlanta since 2019, Clean Air Duct Cleaning & Chimney is a locally owned business with a 5.0 Google rating based on over 300 reviews.
